Update on the 34th SSAI congress

October 13, 2016 by Administrator

Welcome to the 34th congress of the Scandinavian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (SSAI) to be held in Malmö/Lund, 6-8th of September 2017.

We are presently working hard to be able to give you an excellent scientific program and an outstanding exhibition of the latest treatment options and technology. The SSAI Congress will be merged with the yearly Congress of the Swedish National Society (SFAI) and the joined forces allow us to present an international faculty of renowned experts to highlight hot issues of anaesthesia, intensive care, pain and critical emergency medicine in four parallel plenary sessions.

Critical emergency medicine symposia include:

  • Triaging in prehospital emergency critical care and trauma
  • Prehospital cardiac intervention – What is the evidence?
  • Cardiac arrest

Intensive care symposia include:

  • Follow up and rehabilitation after intensive care – does it make a difference?
  • Improving outcome through audit and registries
  • Controversies in fluid therapy
  • Acute kidney injury
  • Sepsis – New diagnostic tools

Obstetric anaesthesia symposia:

  • What’s new in ceasarian?
  • The frail parturient

Regional anaesthesia:

  • Positive synergy effects of regional anaesthesia

Specially featured symposia:

  • Update on coagulation
  • What could we all learn from recent scandals in health care?
  • Ketamine – present practice and emerging concepts
  • Two sessions on fast track surgery

If this is not enough

The symposia are accompanied by plenary state of the art lectures, sponsored symposia, free paper presentations and workshops. Pre-congress activities will be organized from June 3rdincluding

  • 3rd International Symposium on Post Cardiac Arrest Care
  • EDIC2 preparation course
  • How to train the trainers – a course given by SSAI Educational Comittee

Why the silly theme?

The theme of the congress “Bridging Basic Science and Clinical Practice” is inspired by our collaboration with Lund University, founded in 1666, and its extensive array of experimental research and deep knowledge in the fundamental disciplines supporting our specialty, ranging from biochemistry, via microbial pathogenesis to physics and clinical measurement. This special collaboration will be shown in a series of update lectures in basic science for established specialists as well as for our residents preparing for their exams.

Where is it?
