From the President of SSAI
In the Scandinavian countries, the medical speciality Anaesthesiology also incorporates intensive care medicine (ICM), emergency medicine/resuscitation and pain treatment. As I alluded to in my previous “President’s Corner”, we, the Board of SSAI, have decided to write a Position Paper on “The future of Scandinavian Anaesthesiology”. Let us define and develop our speciality before anyone else does!

Derfor har ESA og EBA* (UEMS) utviklet ”Membership and Fellowship of the European Board of Anaesthesiology”. Les mer

FATE - Focused Assessed Transthoracic Echocardiography
| During the last years there has been a growing interest for “Point of Care Ultrasound” in critical care medicine. FATE (Focused Assessed Transthoracic Echocardiography) is goal-directed echocardiography for cardio-pulmonary optimisation in the ICU and critical care environment. At Aarhus University Hospital, Skejby, Denmark a FATE educational program has been offered all members of the medical staff and the FATE-protocol is now mandatory when admitting acute patients to the ICU. |
 |
The essential elements of FATE can be printed on a double-sided laminated card and carried in the pocket. Thousands of FATE cards have recently been distributed worldwide and can be requested free of charge from the website: http://fate-protocol.com/
